“Despite having one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, thousands of health care positions are being added each month throughout Arizona.” That’s the first sentence of a recent article in the Marana News.
The story goes on to say that more than four thousand new health care jobs were added in Arizona last August alone. A recent piece in the Phoenix Business Journal also highlighted the health care market as one of the key areas of job growth in our state.
In Tucson, health care is expected to lead job growth this year and next year. And Phoenix was named the top city in the nation for people looking for a job in the health care industry earlier this year.
While the overall employment numbers may still be a little sluggish in Arizona, it is encouraging to see so many opportunities in the field of health care. And with more people now able to access health care combined with an aging baby boomer population, health care jobs in Arizona are expected to be plentiful for the foreseeable future.
