Is gun violence a public health issue? Check out this recent video from CBS News.
Among other things – some public health officials in the CBS report believe gun violence should be treated as a public health issue along the lines of seat belts, airbags, and anti-smoking campaigns.
Newsbusters took exception to the story writing that some of the claims in the report, such as gun violence being on the rise, don’t “hold up.” The Newsbusters article also suggested more time in the story was given to gun control advocates over gun rights supporters.
Politics aside…..what do you think about the idea of treating gun violence as a public health issue? Can it be compared to car accidents and smoking related illnesses, or is that comparison too much of a stretch? Let us know what you think.
