If finding a new job is on your list of New Year’s resolutions, then Arizona is a great place to live. Five of our state’s cities cracked the Top 50 best places to find a job in 2016 according to a new report from the financial website WalletHub.
Scottsdale and Chandler made the Top 20, but as you can see below – our state is well represented in the national rankings.
“Scottsdale, Chandler and Gilbert are all growing in the same industries … health care, finance and business services,” said Lee McPheters, a professor at the W.P. Carey School of Business and director of its JPMorgan Chase Economic Outlook Center. “Population is growing and the cities also offer opportunities in jobs that are among the fastest-growing part of the Arizona economy now.”
The story goes on to say, “Arizona cities had another major advantage when pitted against other cities in the study: The top five Arizona places had a relatively low cost of living compared to cities on the East and West coasts.”
Cronkite News also put together a short video featuring Wallethub spokeswoman Jill Gonzalez explaining the metrics of the study and why Arizona cities fared well.
Four more Arizona cities (Peoria, Tempe, Glendale, and Tucson) were ranked among the Top 110 cities for job seekers.
Let us know what you think about this report and what you think it might mean to Arizona’s economic health. More job opportunities and a vibrant economy are critical to our vision of one day making Arizona the Healthiest State in the Nation!
