Community Health Improvement Week

There are always those people and organizations who go above and beyond to make our communities healthier…..better places to live. We are in the middle of Community Health Improvement Week, a time to recognize those efforts and those accomplishments.

According to the Association for Community Health Improvement (ACHI) website:

Community Health Improvement Week is designed to:

  • Raise awareness and increase understanding of the vital role of community health improvement strategies, emphasizing the social determinants of health;
  • Demonstrate the impact of your organization’s community health initiatives, both within the organization and with your community stakeholders; and
  • Celebrate community health professionals in all settings, including hospitals, community health centers, public health agencies and healthy communities’ coalitions.

Only 20% of health outcomes are attributable to clinical care. Health behaviors, socioeconomic factors and the physical environment account for 80% of health.”

ACHI put together a short video explaining the importance of this week, not only here in Arizona, but across the country.  Click here or on the picture below to view the video.
