Celebrating Hope and Healing

Celebrating Hope and Healing is this year’s theme for National Hospital Week.  All week we will share the videos and photos through our communications. And there’s a lot to celebrate!

For more than a century, hospitals have played a central role in our nation’s healthcare system, serving as a key community anchor institution caring for and connecting millions of people. Today, hospitals are an economic mainstay supporting 16.5 million jobs across the country.  Arizona hospitals have a multibillion-dollar impact on the state’s economy. “Hospitals represent a critical driver of the Arizona economy, helping directly and indirectly generate 177,000 jobs and $24 billion in economic impact,” stated Jim Rounds, the president of Rounds Consulting Group, the agency behind a recent economic impacts study.

Celebrating National Hospital Week also provides an opportunity for us all to thank the dedicated individuals – physicians, nurses, therapists, engineers, food service workers, volunteers, administrators, and so many more – for their amazing contributions. Here are some of the videos and stories we’ll be sharing on the AzHHA Facebook and Twitter accounts to show our appreciation:

From every corner of Arizona, hospitals are bringing the quality care we need, when we need it. Hear from the CEO at Yuma Regional Medical Center (podcast), and read these insights from the CEOs at Copper Queen Community Hospital (Bisbee, AZ), Encompass Health Valley of the Sun (Glendale, AZ), Maricopa Integrated Health System (Phoenix, AZ) and Havasu Regional Medical Center (Lake Havasu City, AZ).

We highlight the good work being done across the state at hospitals throughout the year. Here’s a look back at some highlights:  Tucson Medical Center (Tucson, AZ), Cornerstone Southeast Arizona (Tucson, AZ), Summit Healthcare (Show Low, AZ), Kingman Regional Medical Center (Kingman, AZ), Northwest Medical Center ( Tucson, AZ), Valley View Medical Center (Fort Mohave, AZ).

Want to hear more about what’s happening outside of Arizona? You can hear about the critical role hospitals are playing across the country by joining the Twitter Chat planned for May 16 at 8:00 a.m. MST. For more information, click here.

You can participate too! Just share how hospitals are making an impact in your cities and communities. On social media use and follow hashtags #MyHospital and #HospitalWeek to join the conversation! Discussing what is working to bring better health to Arizonans and better economic health to our state will help us take another step toward our long-term goal of one day making Arizona the Healthiest State in the Nation!
